Today is the day that environmental activist Tim DeChristopher aka Bidder 70 goes on trial in Salt Lake City for disrupting a Bureau of Land Management auction two years ago that stood to sell off thousands of acres in Utah to oil and gas companies. DeChristopher bid on over 12,000 acres of the land, ending at $1.79 million, which he had no intention of paying. It was an extraordinary act of civil disobedience but the only way DeChristopher saw to halt the threat to his future and the future of a healthy and sustainable world for all.
Visit DeChristopher’s website Peaceful Uprising and consider how our daily action and inaction can forever change the course of our lives and the lives of others.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
